D1: TANA / ANDASIBE
Morning visit the private park of Tsarasaotra, scored a RAMSAR site. This tranquil oasis is a nesting site for several bird species such as Squacco Heron, Little Grebe, Black Heron…
Then departure to Andasibe (3H drive). Visit of the Pereyras reserve on the way. This reserve has a remarkable collection of insects, reptiles and amphibians of the island. The chameleon, stick insects, frogs, geckos and colorful are well represented and are easily observable. Free lunch at the restaurant. Then continuation to Andasibe. Free dinner.

D2 : ANDASIBE / MANTADIA NP (B)
Full day birding in the Mantadia National Park which is a medium altitude rainforest and is home to no fewer than 109 species of birds, including the Scaly ground roller, blue coua, nuthatch vanga… The park is home also to Diademed Sifaka.

Breakfast at the lodge and during the morning, we visit the Analamazaotra National Park. The rainforest shelters the largest lemur, the Indri Indri, easily observable. The park is also home to other bird species like red-fronted coua, tylas vanga, velvet asity…
Free lunch in a restaurant and drive back to Tana (3H30 drive). Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Free dinner.

Day devoted to bird watching. The lowland rainforest of the national park is home to 96 species of birds, some of them are endemic as the brown mesite, Pollen’s vanga, yellow-bellied sunbird-asity or Henst’s goshawk.

D6 : RANOMAFANA NP / ANJA RESERVE / RANOHIRA (B)
We leave very early to reach Ranohira (7H drive). Along the way, we visit the Anja community forest to observe the ring-tailed lemur. This reserve is a fine example of a successful ecotourism initiative led by the local community. This site is home to several species of orchids, succulent plants and a colony of ring-tailed lemur easy to observe. Entrance fees and guide charges are directly transferred into a fund used to build clinics, schools and promote rice technologies.

D8 : RANOHIRA / ZOMBITSE-VOHIBASIA NP / ARBORETUM ANTSOKAY / TULEAR (B)
Early departure to the dry forest of Zombitse National Park (1H30 drive), home to endemic birds such as Appert’s greenbul, crested coua, white-browed owl. After a short hike through the park, we continue to Tulear (2H drive). Visit of the arboretum Antsokay along the road. Free lunch at the restaurant. The arboretum Antsokay is a botanical garden of more than 900 plant species endemic to the great south of the island. Continuation to Tulear and transfer to the hotel. Free dinner.

Transfer by boat to Anakao (1H of boat), then drive to Tsimanampetsotse National Park (2H30 of bumpy road). The site is of biological importance especially for its waterfowl. Among the 112 species of bird, some are endemic such as the Madagascar plover or Perigrime. But the main attraction is of course the flamingo colonies. Free picnic lunch in the park and drive back to Anakao (2H drive). Arrival and installation to the hotel, free dinner.

We go for a pirogue ride to Nosy Ve (45min pirogue), to observe the Paille en Queue, the island is a nesting site of this very rare bird, picnic lunch based on seafood on the beach then pirogue ride back to Anakao in the afternoon. Free dinner.

Speedboat transfer to Tulear (1H of boat) and drive to Ifaty (1h of bumpy road).
On the way we visit the Honko community reserve.
Birding along the edge of the mangrove and reeds that offers a great place for bird watching.
The site offers the opportunity to observe a variety of wetland birds in the region such as the little grebe, Little Bittern, the Black Heron, purple heron and Madagascar kestrel.
